The Disarmament Programme covers different disarmament related areas but concentrates on microdisarmament, control of weapons exports (both in Spain and worldwide) and Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) programmes for ex-combatants. It also aims to study the concept of Security in depth, moving its focus away from the idea of the military security of states and instead focusing on aspects that are more directly related to people. The emphasis is therefore on economic, food, health, environmental, personal, community and political security, according to the definition established by the UNDP in 1994.
